Simply put, our mission is to save thousands of jobs within the horse racing industry and to ensure for the care of thousands of horses during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The horse racing industry in the state of Pennsylvania is on the verge of collapse due to the Covad-19 pandemic and Gov. Tom Wolf’s shelter in place policies. As a result of Gov. Tom Wolf’s Stay at Home Orders and closures of non essential businesses, horse racing has been suspended throughout PA. If horse racing does not reopen soon thousands of people will face economic devastation.
PA Horseracing is responsible for supporting more than 23,000 jobs across the state and there are nearly 17,000 horses stabled at racetracks and farms supporting the industry. Horse Racing is not funded by tax payer dollar and all revenues are generated through gaming activities. Without racing, revenues cannot be generated to pay workers and care for the horses. Industry workers are having to choose between feeding their families and feeding their horses.
The solution is simple: tell Gov.Tom Wolf to “Let ‘Em Run.” The National Thoroughbred Racing Association has released guidelines for racing safely during the Covid-19 pandemic. There are several states currently operating under these guidelines with great success. We can open our race tracks while keeping the public safe.
